Byron Doorbell Chime Units are available in both wireless (DBY range) and wired formats, catering to flexible modern installations and traditional fixed setups.

Wireless Byron chimes typically offer plug-in, plug-through, or portable battery-powered receivers, with operating ranges commonly around 100–150 m in open environments. Many models support multiple melodies (often up to 16), adjustable volume (approximately 80–85 dB), LED visual alerts, and expandable button pairing for multiple entrances. Select models, such as the DBY-23455BS and DBY-23612BS, use kinetic push buttons, removing the need for batteries.

Wired Byron chimes, including models such as the Byron 776, are designed for 2-wire installation, typically powered by low-voltage transformers (with some units featuring integrated transformers). These provide classic “ding-dong” audio, consistent performance, and compatibility with existing or smart doorbell systems, making them suitable for long-term fixed installations.
